The United Arab Emirates is a country in the Persian Gulf, composed of seven independent emirates located on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula and at the entrance to the Arabian-Persian Gulf.
The United Arab Emirates is surrounded to the south and west by Saudi Arabia, to the east by the Sultanate of Oman, and to the north by the Persian Gulf.

The landscapes of the United Arab Emirates are composed mainly of deserts. The coast along the Persian Gulf is dotted with a multitude of small islands. The only mountainous terrain of the Emirates is located in the Hajar region, on the border with Oman.
